The
Empowered Defender self-defense courses for women teach simple, effective, techniques
and skills that work with a women's adrenaline reflexes. Fancy techniques
and high flying kicks are no use when adrenaline is flowing and dexterity is limited.
All techniques are based on the premise that the attacker is larger and stronger
and as a result the techniques taught must not rely on speed or
strength.
The Empowered Defender Series is broken into three 4 hours sessions, each building and reviewing, while introducing a new skill set. The courses are a fun, fact filled, hands-on approach to self-defense.

Although Session 1 is the foundation, the courses are designed so students can take them in any order. Students are encouraged to complete the series, but none are pre-requisites for the others.
Session 1 starts with the basics of awareness and how not to be targeted. Once the students learn the most important skill, how to avoid a confrontation, the training teaches how the body reacts in a confrontation and skills to escape.

Session 2 reviews some of the core curriculum already covered in Session 1 and introduces new skills such as fighting in cars, against walls, and on your back.

Session 3 reviews some of the core curriculum already covered in Session 1 and introduces new skills such as using improvised weaponry (bags, cell phones, water bottles) and disarming an attacker.
